Listeners' Iconic Memories

  • Costanza Steely Dan - Reelin' In the Years I was enjoying a day of pretending to be in the 70's while driving in a piece of junk car in downtown Seattle. This song came on, and it seemed to last forever.
  • Linda Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band - Night Moves Bob Segar this one night in the 70s it was thundering all night, one storm passed thru then another storm came in.
  • Peter April Wine - Weeping Widow Myles Goodwyn had one of the purest voices in Canadian Rock. I remember driving over the old (MacDonald) bridge from Dartmouth to Halifax one sunny afternoon, when Terry Williams of CJCH announced that he had the latest April Wine song to play, but it was so new he only had it on tape. It was “Weeping Widow’. I almost spun the volume knob off trying to crank it up! Growing up in that era, April Wine defined summer. The USA had the Beach Boys, our ambassadors of summers were April Wine. More often than not they were around for a concert on Citadel Hill for many summers.
  • C J ANGEL OF THE MORNING In 1982 I was a divorced Mother with 3 children. I had a little Toyota Tercel. When driving my children around we loved to sing along, top of our lungs to songs on the radio and the cars cassette player We were our own girl band. One of our favourite songs was Angel of the Morning by Juice Newton.
  • CJ GLORIA When I visit my best Physiotherapist Ever I’m reminded on this song. Her parents actually named her after this song.
  • Kent Beach Boys "Kokomo"! A lot of this music inspired my passion for collecting albums, particularly soundtracks, mostly though Columbia Record and Tape Club. A lot of Junior High memories.
  • Liz MacDougall Sniff 'n' the Tears - Driver's Seat Listening to psychedelic Sunday with Rory O'Shea. The best afternoons ever, which is why I love Icon Radio, you play lots of oldies but goodies.
  • Martin Groenewoud John Mellencamp -Cherry Bomb Listening from The Netherlands, first listen in 2007 when it was still called CKAY radio when we visited the Sunshine Coast. From 2008 we had a holiday home there until 2022. Still listen to CKAY/ICON Radio almost every day. Great Music. Remember driving from Vancouver airport to the ferry when I heard this song for the first time
  • Jim Dazed and Confused I was in high school in 1970 and during lunch in the school theatre someone had set up a sound system and was playing Led Zeppelin’s Dazed and Confused at a high volume. Changed my life 😂❤️
  • Ash The Cars - Drive I rememebr when I first heard the Cars Cars album ... it changed my vision of rock music forever.
